About

My name is Mike Hillwig and I live in Salem, MA with my pug, Reggie. I'm a DBA (database administrator) with a high tech company. Originally from the Pittsburgh area, I moved to Providence in December 2004 and then to Boston in November 2005. March of 2008 brought me to Salem on the Massachusetts north shore.

What else do you want to know? I'm an aviation geek, a foodie, have some tattoos and live with Multiple Sclerosis. This year, I'm in my first season singing Baritone with the Boston Gay Men's Chorus. If there is anything else you'd like to know, just ask. I'm hardly shy.

I’m in Seattle and heading to bed very shortly. I have to be up early. My flight is at ten, and I should be at the airport by 8:00.

My flight was long, very long. The people on Alaska Airlines are very nice. The only complaint I had about my flight is that there is no in-flight entertainment unless you rent one of their little portable things for $10. I had three hours of battery life and watched a movie on my laptop and then tried to sleep a bit.

One very cool thing about my flight is that I was on a brand-spankin’ new 737-800. This was Alaska Airlines’ Starliner 75, which is a retro paint scheme to celebrate their 75th year anniversary.  Pictures are here.

  1. Glad you made it that far.  I was wondering if you got out of Boston….  Good luck with the rest of the travels, and I hope the training is good…..
