About

My name is Mike Hillwig and I live in Salem, MA with my pug, Reggie. I've just started a new DBA (database administrator) job with a high tech company who makes a product I don't understand yet. Originally from the Pittsburgh area, I moved to Providence in December 2004 and then to Boston in November 2005. March of 2008 brought me to Salem on the Massachusetts north shore.

What else do you want to know? I'm an aviation geek, a foodie, have some tattoos and live with Multiple Sclerosis. Anything else, just ask.

Followup

I went to see the surgeon today to follow up after my surgery. She says I’m doing fine. I’ve been having some discomfort around some of the incision sites. She says that will get worse before it gets better but it’s perfectly common. In our discussion, she drew me a picture of what a normal gallbladder should look like and what mine looked like. Wow. Mine had developed kind of a neck with a stone stuck in that neck. Eventually, that stone would push out and create a hole between the gallbladder and the bladder. That would have been really bad.

My GI system has stabilized and the… um… output… is back to normal. She says I shouldn’t have to worry about what I eat now. For a while, there was a really good chance that eating would give me the runs, and that’s no longer a problem.
