Chick Flick, Part 2
Aug 28th, 2005 by Mike

I just watched The Notebook and cried my eyes out again. This can’t be normal.

I’m off to bed soon. It’s going to be an interesting week at work.

Chick Flick
Aug 28th, 2005 by Mike

This is one of those times that demonstrates that I’m so fucking gay. I’m sitting on the couch with the dogs, about to watch The Notebook. I saw it in the theater when it came out and cried my eyes out. I’m such a sucker for a good chick flick.

It was a pretty quiet day here. I had the dogs on the beach at 7:00 this morning. That was fun. They got to run because there was nobody else out there.

After over a week, I talked to Steve today. I was headed into Boston and the T was a zoo. That’s because there was a game at Fenway. So I texted him and he called me back. He was pretty drunk. We’ll talk later.

Actually, before the movie starts, maybe I’ll take the dogs out. I’m not sure, though. Brutus is snoring, and it’s SO cute.

For those of you in New Orleans, I wish you well. But come on, who the hell lives in a city below sea level?

Beach
Aug 27th, 2005 by Mike

Buddy is all excited right now. He should be exhausted. We just went for a walk on the beach.

I drove down to Providence today to feed my fish and check on the house. As I had expected, my landlord hadn’t done anything. It’s time for me to get out of there. I’m trying not to be angry with him, but it’s difficult to not be angry about the situation. This has been going on for almost four months now. It’s time to cut my losses.

I came back and bummed around the house with the dogs. Then we went to the beach. Think about this for a moment. I’m spending the last two weeks of the summer living a few blocks from the beach and take two awesome dogs to the beach almost every day while my commute is cut in half. How can I not be really happy about this?

It’s time for some changes. It’s not time to make an impulse decision, though. I have a few weeks to think this through. But for now, it’s time to watch TLC’s Town Haul.

Skunked
Aug 27th, 2005 by Mike

The pugs and I had a little encounter with a skunk this morning. Fortunately, we got away without getting skunked. It was a close call, though.

Momentum

I may have put some good things into motion. These are probably good things, but I have to step back and make sure this is what’s best for me.

Peer review
Aug 26th, 2005 by Mike

My company does peer feedback for our reviews. I gave my boss a list of ten people that I’ve worked with, and he asks them to provide input. One of my co-workers forwarded her comments to me.

Michael shows a lot of passion for his work and role here at Shawmut.  I think Michael’s enthusiasm is refreshing and breaths new life into Shawmut.  His knowledge of the systems and software is unquestionable.  In turn Michael can sometimes seem to take things personally when his visions are not what someone else for sees.  I think he can take negativity to heart and would like to see Michael let things role off his shoulders more often.  I think Michael will and has excelled at Shawmut in the short time he has been here and in the future.

If you need further explanation I would be happy to come talk to you…but, bottom line is…HE’S GREAT

She nailed me to the wall with this one. I’d say it’s incredibly accurate. For those of you who know me, you’re probably not surprised. When I’m into something, I’m incredibly passionate about it. My enthusiasm is always up there. And I take negative feedback to heart.

That was just one of ten people. I know a couple more will be more critical. MUCH more critical. But that’s okay, as long as it’s honest.

Beer Friday
Aug 26th, 2005 by Mike

It’s happened again. That’s twice in one week. Go figure.

Today is Beer Friday at work. I’ll probably have one or two and then head home. Since it’s not too hot, maybe I’ll take the boys to the beach right after work. Then I have to clean out the bunny pen. I just cleaned out the litter box on Tuesday and it needed it again yesterday. After that, I have to head to Whole Foods to buy some veggies for the bunnies. Well, the carrots will be for Buddy, too. I’ve never seen a dog go apeshit for carrrots.

Later tonight, I’ll be heading into Salem for my shot. Then I’ll probably go back to the house and watch Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. I’m trying to be a better geek. I did love Episode IV.

Last night, Buddy pooped on the floor while I was sleeping. THEN he woke me up. It’s pictures like this that remind me why he’s not a rug yet.

Don’t get me wrong. I might grumble and complain about this, but I’m having the time of my life. I’ve grown attached to all four of those furballs, and I’m going to be really sad to leave them. I get all excited when Buddy gets anxious at the door to let me know he has to go out. And getting kisses from Brutus is a big deal. Yeah, I’m really going to miss the pugs.

I even get excited taking care of the bunnies. They start hopping around when I come close to the pen because they know I’ll have veggies for them. Taking care of them is enjoyable, and I don’t even mind cleaning out the litter box. That’s what nitrile gloves are for. smile

Tomorrow, I have to head to Providence to check up on my house. I’m willing to bet dollars to donuts that my landlord hasn’t fixed anything yet. He actually called me last Friday to say he’d be by to get the rent. I told him he’d have to wait two weeks because I wouldn’t be home. He didn’t like that. We’ve waited three months. What’s another two weeks? Besides, he hadn’t fixed anything yet.

I’m moving soon. I have to. This is going to drive me nuts.

Need a job?
Aug 25th, 2005 by Mike

My company is looking for HR Generalists for both our New York and Boston offices. We’re looking for someone with five to seven years of experience, preferably in construction or heavy industry.

We’re also looking for an IT support/helpdesk analyst in our Boston office.

If you’re interested, give me a shout.
