Shopping, almost done
Dec 17th, 2007 by Mike

Reggie had a grooming appointment at PetSmart tonight, so I took advantage of the time and did some Christmas shopping. In the span of about 90 minutes, I finished most of my shopping.

My dad is pretty much done. I picked up a good bottle of Vodka over the weekend, and some good cheese-stuffed olives today at the gourmet food shop near my office. The martini glasses and cocktail shaker from Crate and Barrel arrived today, so that’s all set, too.
My mom is overdone. All of the glassware arrived from Crate and Barrel today. I also picked up a 11” Calphalon Grill Pan for her.
Sarah is done, too. I got her Dance Dance Revolution for her PS2, as well as the Sharks Tale for the PS2. She’s getting a DS, so I got her a game for that, too.
My sister, on the other hand, has me completely stumped.
Her boyfriend, well, I have a gift, but I’m not sure its what I want to give him.
His son is done. I got him Lego Starwars for the PS2.
HIs daughter was quite possibly the most fun I had shopping. She’s two. I got this bag of 150 balls like the Chucky Cheese ball pit. It says for ages two and up. Dave is going to kill me. It’s what makes being the gay uncle so damn cool.  The worse thing he can do is get Reggie some loud, annoying toy. But I can take it away from him and he won’t cry about it.

New TV, Part Two
Dec 16th, 2007 by Mike

I made it home through the storm. I almost didn’t make it out of Beth and Paul’s driveway. Once I was on the road, it was fine until I got behind a line of snow plows. They line across and go rediculously slow. That was the worst part of the whole trip. Once I got to 495, it was pretty smooth sailing.

I got my new TV all hooked up. That left me with two things to do. One, was to call Comcast to order my HD service. Two, was to find out how to dispose of the old one. That one’s not as hard as it sounded.

Comcast tells me that they have to replace my cable box. And I have no idea what that means for the future of my TiVo. Does anybody know how to hook a TiVo Series 2 up to a TV in conjunction with a Comcast HD tuner? I need to upgrade my TiVo, but not yet. Comcast tells me that the HD service comes with their PVR service at no additional charge, so I’d like to see what that brings for the future of TiVo in my house.

New TV
Dec 15th, 2007 by Mike

Paul and I went to BJ’s today. I wanted to go and look at a new TV.  I just wanted to look, right? Well, Paul was an amazing shopping enabler and twisted my arm, making me buy one of these.  I say that jokingly in that I wanted a TV. I got it at a really good price.  It’s a 32” Sharp. I’m pretty happy.

I have really mixed feelings about this. I bought my current TV sometime late 1997 or early 1998.  Yeah, it was time for a replacement.  Here is a picture of the TV from 2001. Yeah, this TV is pretty old.

Of course, the old TV has a story to it. I bought it when Sun TV was going out of business. Josh went with me, and I was all excited until we went to put it into the trunk of my 1997 Dodge Neon. It wouldn’t fit in the trunk. We were baffled. We somehow got it to fit in the front seat, except without the box. On top of that, I couldn’t see out the passenger side windows of my car. Josh had to sit in the back seat and tell me what was going on out that window. We went from Robinson Town Center (near the airport) to my place in Dormont. It was a rather harrowing experience and one I won’t foget. Ever.

Productivity
Dec 15th, 2007 by Mike

I went to bed fairly early last night, or at least I tried. Reggie and Buddy took a little while to settle down because they wanted to play. We were up about 7:00 this morning.

Everybody has gone outside to pee and/or poop. It’s funny how Pugs don’t like to poop in the snow. Heck, I even went to the post office to get stamps for the last of my Christmas cards.

As soon as Beth and Paul get back, I hope Paul and I can make a trip to BJ’s. I want to look at TVs.

Sitting
Dec 14th, 2007 by Mike

I’m house/pug/bunny-sitting tonight. Reggie and I made it out to Beth and Paul’s house without issue.  My car is loving being in the garage. smile And my new MacBook found its home on their wireless network straight away.

All three boys have gone out to pee, and Reggie even pooped. Now all four of the animals have eaten.

Now Reggie and Buddy are fighting like they haven’t played in years. It’s been five days since we were here last.

Snowstorm
Dec 13th, 2007 by Mike

We got our first snowstorm of the season today. It’s pretty ugly out there.

Before the snow hit, I ran to the Apple store to get my new Macbook. It’s black. And it’s awesome.

Bonus Time

We now have two weeks until Christmas and I haven’t even started my shopping.

Dye Job
Dec 10th, 2007 by Mike

I keep tinkering around with the idea of dying my hair a different color. Part of me thinks that I’ve outgrown the whole platinum blonde thing. Look at my old passport.  THAT was blonde.

What about the look that Jay Manuel does with the silver?

Maybe I should just leave well enough alone and be thankful that I still have my hair.
