A lot of cooks and chefs swear by keeping squirt bottles on hand, full of certain things they use all the time. Some keep olive oil. Some keep hot sauce. 

While the thought of putting olive oil in a plastic bottle appalls me a bit, the one thing I always keep handy in a squirt bottle is simple syrup. It’s fantastic for my coffee in the morning.
