FOOL: US Airways Proposes
November 16th, 2006 by Mike

Motley Fool‘s Tim Beyer wrote in his article US Airways Proposes, that JetBlue had little to gain from a merger of US Airways and Delta.

I couldn’t disagree more.

To keep regulators happy, the new Delta would probably have to sell off their Northeast shuttle service. That’s the hourly service between Boston, New York’s LGA, and Washington’s Reagan National airports. Both US Airways and Delta operate identical service here, except that one runs on the hour when the other runs on the half hour. It’s a seriously lucrative business. If they had to sell one of them, my hunch is that JetBlue would be ripe to take over that service.

JetBlue’s original business plan was all about long haul flying. But recently, they’ve started doing a lot more short haul flying. I think this gem would fit nicely in their pocket.

But I could be dead wrong, too.

Oh, Mr. Parker, what are you thinking?
