Our new senior help desk tech started today. He seems like a nice guy, and he’s a big geek. That’s what we wanted, and he’s great. I got to introduce him around the office. Our helpdesk manager doesn’t like it when I refer to him as “the new Bob.” It’s just a reference. When I started, I was “the new Jenn” for months. People know her, so they had an idea what I would be doing. I guess part of the issue is that the position is going to be changing. That’s okay, mine did too, drastically.
Our rollout went much smoother than I had expected. I bailed out of the office about 2:45 and came home to sleep. Well, first I picked up the trash that Reggie had gotten into. Chapter Seven says stop blaming the dog. It was my fault for leaving the trash where he could get into it. He really needs a bath now. But I napped from about 3:00 to 7:00 and that was seriously needed. Between having a relapse with my MS and the loss of sleep over this rollout, I’m exhausted.
After my nap, I ate a little bit of food and then went to Home Depot for some painting supplies. My bathroom is starting to look much better. I have some trim work to do and the top near the ceiling, but then it’ll be done. The tops might have to fall to my landlord, though. I was up on my little stool tonight with a roller and had a little tumble. I only fell about nine inches, but it was enough to remind me that I shouldn’t be dealing with hights when my MS is acting up.
I’m still trying to decide if I want to take Reggie with me on the MS Walk. Three miles might be a little bit much for him, and I’d end up carrying him.
The deployment of our new software version went really well this morning. I really thought it was going to be ugly, but my coworker Tim busted his ass and got things working really well. I had to give him kudos.
This morning, I sent out an e-mail to the whole company asking for sponsorship in the MS Walk. The results have been outstanding. I got two $100 sponsorships from people within the company, one of them being our President. I was really touched. When you factor in our company’s matching gifts policy, I’m well over $1000 for this walk. My family hasn’t even started giving yet. My dad was going to get on his brothers and sisters about that one.
Even if I don’t hit the $2000 mark, I do believe I’ll be over the $1600 mark I hit last year.
To everyone who has sponsored me, I thank you.

I’m hooked on Food Network’s “The Next Food Network Star”, and I’m totally rooting for Nathan. I wouldn’t mind seeing Guy win, either. I like Reggie, but I don’t think he’ll win.
Before that was NBC’s The West Wing. I’m pretty religious about watching that. Next week’s episode looks killer, if you’ll pardon the pun. They had to write out John Spencer since he died. I do believe Santos will still win the election, and Toby won’t go to jail. At least I hope not. NBC has pulled the plug on the show, but I’m dying to see how it ends.
It’s time to get to bed because I have a very early day tomorrow. I need to be at work by 6:00.
This is not going to be an easy thing to accomplish. Imagine getting 800 people out of any big structure in 90 seconds. It’s darn near impossible.

My new landlord was telling me that one of the nice things about taking the blue line from Wood Island is that you walk home through Day Square. Well, I went to the new ‘hood today to see if I could get myself not so lost this time, and it was much easier this time.
I found Day Square and Spinelli‘s. It’s an Italian market/bakery. One of the things I’ve missed about living in Providence was the food. It looks like I’ll be able to get my food back. While i was there, I picked up some cookies to take into the office tomorrow. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a long day.
Oh, I’m drooling

I went to a little spot in Boston today known as Kelly’s Landing to take some pictures of the incoming airplanes. It was cold, cloudy, and miserable. Most of the shots I took were crap. These were some of the better ones I took today, and they’re still crap.
If there were any decent pictures today, it would be one of these two.
I think the US Airways A319 is probably my favorite of the two. You can make out the tail number on it, N760US. Although the Delta/Song Boeing 757 isn’t a bad shot, either. I just couldn’t make out the tail number on it. Oh, who am I kidding? In this lighting, they’re all crap.
Whomever said that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line has clearly never lived in Boston.
These are the easy directions to my new place from my old place.
I woke up about 4:00 and couldn’t get back to sleep. I hate it when that happens. Finally, I fell back asleep and woke up about 9:00. I layed around in bed, played with Reggie a little, and then I got up to shower. When I got out of the shower, I realized something really odd was going on. The house was utterly quiet. It’s Sunday morning and the people upstairs had gone to church. What did I do? I took advantage of the situation and went back to sleep. It was blissful.
About noon, my phone rang. It was Sarah, my niece, asking me if I was coming home the week before Easter to help her color eggs. We do this every year. Unfortunately, this year the MS Walk is that day. It was a fun conversation.
I really need to get to the gym today.
Reggie just bit me. It probably doesn’t help matters much that I was biting his paw. It was all in good fun.
My sister called me at work on Friday. As we were talking, I let out this “Oh, shit!” comment. It appears that I had forgotten my dad’s birthday. Just talking to my sister reminded me of it. So I called tonight and apologized, and he didn’t give it a second thought. My dad is very cool like that. I told him his present was on the way, and he told me I didn’t have to. I know I don’t have to. That’s why it’s called a gift. Anyway, we talked for a while and I gave him the skinny on what’s going on with the apartment and my health.
Now I’m trying to decide what I should be doing on a Saturday night. Part of me wants to stay in and part of me wants to go out. I’m doing laundry at the moment. In the dryer I have a load of underwear. That’s right, I have an entire load of laundry that’s nothing but boxer shorts. It’s been a while since I’ve done laundry. The funny thing is that I could probably go a couple more days.
