Big Deal
August 10th, 2005 by Mike

I mentioned to somebody today that sometimes I make a big deal out of how much I appreciate it when my friends give me my shot. I realized today there is a reason for that. This is what I said:

It seems like I made a big deal out of this, and I probably do. What most people don’t realize is that shot is keeping me alive. So it is a big deal.

Don’t get me wrong. I can do it myself, and if I had to, I would do it myself. I did it myself for almost two years. But frankly, it just sucks. I really have trouble overcoming that whole self-preservation instinct. Having other people do it also minimizes the side-effects because the muscles are more relaxed.

If you had friends helping keep you alive, you’d make a big deal of it, too.
